Ready-made flower jars from specialized stores often have a uniform appearance, and most of them are too expensive. If you want to make your garden special, the choice of pots for flowers does not have to be limited to the offer in stores. Why not make unique hanging flower jars yourself? With a little creativity and good ideas, hanging potted plants can liven up any garden or balcony. The following are tips on how, with a little willpower and effort, you can make your own hanging flower jars at minimal cost.
Bottles
Of the jars, it is best to use baby food jars. They are smaller, so they will look much nicer and nicer, but if you want, you can also use bigger bottles.
In addition to them, you will need metal clamps, a rope and a board. The idea with baby food jars is to take a board and measure exactly where we want our bottles to be positioned. When you have done that, attach the metal clamps to the marked places and place your bottles in them.
Attach the board to the wall by passing the rope through the holes you have drilled on each side, and the board can also be placed on the wall using one or two hooks that are placed in the middle of the board. The production is not complicated, and the jars with flowers will look very effective.
Metal boxes
Another simple suggestion is to make hanging flower pots with the help of a metal box. If you don’t have a single such box at home, you can find them at reasonable prices at various flea markets. Don’t worry about the wear of the boxes, because the older they look, the better they will fit into the garden.
Cans
The third thing you will definitely have at home is canned goods. To make hanging pots from cans, you will also need super glue (if you have a glue gun), a drill and rope. To decorate, you can use fabric, decorative paper, buttons, lace, paint…

To make macrame flower baskets, first separate 20 m of rope and divide it into eight parts that must be of the same length. Then fold them in half and connect all eight parts. You should get a loop at the top.
The second step involves dividing the 16 threads into four groups, and then tying a knot on each of the four groups. Make sure that all knots are equidistant from the top (let the two middle threads hang freely, tie a knot on the outer ones).
The knot is knitted in such a way that the outer thread, which is on the right side, is transferred to the left over the thread that we left hanging. We move the left thread to the right, but behind the middle threads. Binding is repeated at least twice. You have to be careful with each new tying, because the right thread in the second round goes under the middle threads while the left thread goes over them and so on.
To obtain the bottom of the woven macrame flower basket, you will connect two groups that are next to each other in such a way that you will work two knots around the two outer threads, and then the process is repeated on the other adjacent outer threads.
If you have connected everything correctly, you should get the appearance of a network. Finally, tie all the threads to get a closed basket. What’s also great about these baskets is that you can change the material for making them. You can also use strips cut from an old T-shirt.
Tall flower pots
For beautiful tall flower jars, you will need a ceramic bowl, string, glue, wooden sticks and flowers. You probably already have all the necessary materials at home, so don’t wait, but get to work right away.
Drill holes in the place where you want the sticks to be inserted, and when you do that, pour liquid glue to attach the sticks to the container. After the glue dries, place the flower you want in the tall jar.
By using and arranging old flowerpots, you will get unique flower pots, and you will also recycle them. The process of making tall and hanging flower pots will appeal to anyone who likes to plant, transplant, decorate and generally experiment with items that cannot be found in stores.
