On April 9, 2022, the educational and fun event DINOSAUR DAY will be held in Brijuni National Park. A rich program on the topic of dinosaurs and paleontological values of Brijuni National Park and its surroundings is prepared for all dinosaur lovers, young and old. Visitors can expect expert lectures, stories and presentations, games and creative workshops, as well as a tour of paleontological sites in Veliko Brijun.
The program is carried out outdoors, in the center of Veliki Brijun and at paleontological sites where more than 200 feet of dinosaurs, fearsome reptiles that ruled the earth in the Mesozoic era, have been found.
At paleontological sites, paleontology students are waiting for you to explain everything about tracks, their origin and preservation, and all the knowledge that paleontologists gain through fossil tracks. Visitors will be transported by a tourist train to Barban, which is located in the northern part of Veliki Brijun, in the immediate vicinity of the Safari Park.
A visit to the site of Ploče, located on the Zelenikovac peninsula, will be organized on two occasions, at 13:00 and 15:30, as expert guidance for smaller groups. Pre-registration for participation will be possible upon arrival in Veliki Brijun, at the Info-point. The tour lasts 1 hour and includes a 1 km walk.
The educational part of the program will include professional lectures for children and adults, stories for the little ones, fun experiments and educational stands and posters.
The creative and fun part of the program will include drawing and coloring, making dino masks and dino feet, dino tattoos and a paleontology sandbox.
The Dinosaur Day educational and entertainment program starts at 11:30 a.m. and the ticket price for adults is 100 kuna, for children from 7 to 18 years old 70 kuna, and children under 7 can participate for free. Tickets are on sale in the NP Brijuni online store under the name SPECIAL EVENTS. It should be noted that tickets for dogs can be purchased at the ticket office in Fažana (Brionska 10) and dogs can move in the places specified by the Code of Conduct.
In addition to the educational and entertainment program, Brijuni National Park also prepared an art competition on the occasion of Dinosaur Day.
“Dear dinosaur lovers, on the occasion of Dinosaur Day in Brijuni National Park, we invite young artists (up to 12 years old) to send us their dinosaur-themed artwork. Be creative and imaginative, and we will exhibit your works in the “Dino Gallery” in Veliki Brijun on April 9, 2022. The best three works will be awarded with a package of tickets to the Brijuni National Park (2 adults and 1 child) according to the jury’s evaluation,” said the Brijuni National Park.
The art competition lasts until April 4, 2022, and send the works to the address JUNP Brijuni (for “Dino gallery”), Brionska ulica 10, 52212 Fažana. Name and surname, address and age must be written on the works.
